I was born Sep. 16, 1974 to a factory working mother and carpentry working father. I have grown up in Arkansas . I'm the grandson of a Baptist minister. I'm married to a wonderful, beautiful lady. We were married May 24, 1997 . We have a daughter, Elizabeth, 7, and a son, Jordan, 4. I like reading the Bible, science fiction, Sherlock Holmes, and some comic books. I enjoy watching Sherlock Holmes on Mystery and several sci-fi shows. I am also a Transformers collector. Yep, you read that right. I collect toys, and you better believe I play with them too!! One of our kids' favorite things to do is for me to get out "daddy's robots" and all of us play with them for a while. I've even bought a bunch of the Playskool figures for our kids to play with. I enjoy cooking, and am quite comfortable and adept at working in a kitchen. Sometimes I even keep the water from burning!!!
My testimony Though I had a Baptist minister for a grandfather, my family and I fell out of step with the Lord. It was not until my Aunt and cousins came to visit the Summer of 1987 that my life changed. On Sunday night, July 1st, 1987 , my Aunt and cousins said that they were going to go to Church. They were going to go visit where they all used to go as kids. Since I only saw my cousins for about 2 weeks out of the year, I wanted to spend as much time as possible with them, so I tagged along. I can't tell you a thing that Bro. Gary Gipson talked about that night, because about 5 minutes after he started talking, it was like I was the only one in the room. It was like all of the things that the Bible said were wrong were things I had done, and enjoyed. When the invitation was given, I gripped that pew for all it was worth. And let me tell you, a farm boy can have a good grip. I thought I'd left marks on it. When the invitation was over and the benediction was given, everyone started leaving, and my Aunt noticed that I had not moved from my seat. She was the first to realize that I was under conviction. I told her I would be out shortly and that I wanted to speak to the preacher. Well, after about 2 minutes of talking, I
was bawling my eyes out and asking him what I had to do to get this "salvation" he was talking about. That's when he led me through the ABC 's of being a Christian. The walk that started there has taken me through so much. I've been a Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, Youth leader and now a Children's Pastor. I am humbled and honored that FBCSH has called me to be their Children's Pastor. I have alot of good
ideas for the Children's area, and a few insane ones for outside the church. With the support of the Pastoral staff, I know that we can make this Children's Ministry a much-needed beacon of hope for the community, and a success for the Kingdom of God .
Thanks,
Brad
